Full House At Farnborough

One-two for Aldershot as Mike Gratton shows the way at Farnborough Half...

The Farnborough Winter Half Marathon on Sunday, 8th February 2026, was another fully-subscribed event. Last year's event set an attendance record (2,398 finished in 5:47:17) and new men's and women's course records, so anticipation was high as runners lined up at 9:00am under the Airship Hangar at Farnborough Business Park, built on the former Royal Aircraft Establishment HQ site.

This year's results fell slightly short of previous totals as 2,351 runners finished the 10th-anniversary race in 3:40:29, and the course records set by Adam Clarke (1:03:46) and Ellie Monks (1:15:55) last year were retained. However, there was a record of sorts as 332 crossed the finish line in less than 90 minutes, five more than last year's best at this standard.

The top six men were home in less than 70 minutes. Theo Doran (1:07:48) and Alex Pointon (1:08:33) enjoyed a one-two for Aldershot Farnham and District AC. Chris Newnham (Ryde Harriers, 1:08:43) wasn't far behind in third place.

Rachel Laurie (Chichester Runners & AC, 1:17:19) led Anya Culling (Clapham Chasers, 1:19:11), Natasha White (Northbrook AC, 1:19:23) and Katie Bingle (Aldershot Farnham & District AC, 1:19:49) under 80 minutes in the women's race.

The lead car was driven by Mike Gratton, the 1983 London Marathon winner, whose 2:09 winning time gave rise to the 2:09 Events company behind this race promotion.

For the 2026 race, 2:09 Events provided a bumper goody bag for all finishers. Bonus cash prizes of £110 and £210 were awarded to the runners who placed 1,010th and 2,010th in the official results provided by Race Timing Solutions.
