Organised by MindOverMoors, the Esk Valley Ultra is a point to point 58K Ultra Marathon through the North York Moors National Park. Starting in Castleton and finishing at Whitby Harbour, the event follows the full length of the Esk Valley Way from source to sea.
The route follows waymarked trails, tracks and footpaths through the Esk Valley, passing villages including Danby, Lealholm, Glaisdale, Egton Bridge and Grosmont before reaching the North Sea at Whitby. With more than 4,000 feet of ascent, the course combines remote moorland, woodland, riverside scenery and coastal views.
The event includes GPS tracking, fully stocked checkpoints, medical support, a finisher's medal and hot drinks at both the start and finish. Optional coach transport from Whitby to the start and rail links along the Esk Valley provide practical logistics, while the supportive atmosphere reflects the event's community focused approach.
