Enter Darlington 10K For A Tenner

The early-bird sure does catch the worm and this certainly looks to be the case for those taking advantage of the reduced price entry fee for the Darlington 10K. Organisers of the race are hosting a sign-up event this Saturday (16 February) at which runners can register for the reduced price of £10.

Set to celebrate its 31st staging on Sunday 12 August, the race is known to offer a prime opportunity for a late summer PB and takes runners on a traffic-free, two-lap course that finishes on High Row. There is said to be around 60m of elevation over the course of the race.

2017 saw close to 2000 runners compete in what was a star-studded field. New Marske Harriers’ Dominic Shaw claimed first in a speedy 30:02, to take victory ahead of Jonny Mellor (30:07), while Wondiye Indelbu, winner in 2013 and 2014, was fourth (30:27).

Leeds City AC’s Emma Clayton finished top in the women’s competition in 35:12, while Catherine Taylor took second in 35:32 and Birtley AC’s Tracy Millmore third (36:14).

Considering the sizeable field that competes each year, the sign-up event, which takes place at Sherwoods Vauxhall & Chevrolet showroom at Darlington, is sure to spark a lot of interest. Prospective runners can register for just £10 and will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Grandland X for a weekend.
