New Yorkshire Race Is A Cracker!

Easing into a new 10K in Easingwold...

The pretty market town of Easingwold, historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, is the venue for a brand new event: the Easingwold Community 10K and Family Fun Day on Sunday, 27th July 2025.

Easingwold merits a mention in the Domesday Book of 1086. King John had a hunting lodge here, and the Royal Forest of Galtres once surrounded the area. The name of Galtres is preserved by The Galtres Centre, which provides facilities for badminton, tennis, netball, gymnastics and even a shooting range for the local rifle and pistol club. The Galtres Centre is the Race HQ for the Easingwold Community 10K, and perhaps a pistol will signal the start of the race at 10:00am in the Market Square!

The course is described by Race Director Colin Fletcher as a cracker. In his own words: "The course can be described as undulating but certainly not hilly. A perfect challenge, whether it’s your first or one hundred and first 10K. The first half has more up than down and the second half more down than up – perfect for motivation and PBs."

Easingwold lies on the junction of the Vale of York and the Howardian Hills, providing a great setting for a scenic and challenging race. You’ll need to keep focussed on an even effort and not worry so much about pace, as that is usually the best way on courses like this.

The Market Square, with its four pubs, is the focal point that will see a crowd of cheering spectators. The single-lap, anti-clockwise course finishes by passing through a pleasant shared path across the town’s green space of Millfield, which also hosts the local parkrun and junior parkrun – why not make a weekend of it and combine both events?

Alongside the race, there will be a Family Fun Day waiting for you at the finish line in the Market Place. Activities include bouncy castles, outdoor games such as crazy golf, skittles alley, giant Connect 4 and Jenga, and much more! Easingwold has several cafes and pubs for post-race refreshments and celebrating your achievement.
