The East District Cross Country Relay Championships are team races held at Dechmont Law Park in Livingston. Instead of completing the whole race individually, each runner covers one cross country leg before handing over to the next member of their team.
Young athlete teams have three runners completing 2.5K legs, while senior, under 20 and masters competitors race over 4K legs. Women's teams complete three legs and men's teams complete four, with separate championship races for the different categories.
The relay format gives every runner an individual section of the course while the team's combined performance determines the result. Dechmont Law provides a challenging setting for the championships, which bring together athletics clubs from across Scotland's East District.
