Dormouse Challenge is a six-hour trail event organised by Big Bear Events at Salcey Forest near Northampton.
The event follows a 3.5-mile off-road loop through the forest, with participants choosing how many laps they complete within the six-hour window. One lap is enough to earn a finish, while runners can continue through Half Marathon and Marathon distances or beyond 50 miles. Canicross and rucking are also welcomed.
The route uses well-maintained woodland paths with no asphalt, predominantly on crushed stone and well-trodden forest floor. Conditions can become muddy and slippery when wet. The sociable lap format brings runners back regularly to the event base and aid station, where seasonal treats including mince pies add to the November atmosphere.
