The DK Mile is organised by Blyth Running Club and takes place on South Beach in Blyth, Northumberland. Forming part of a six race series held on the first Friday of each month from April to September, the event celebrates the classic road mile with accurately measured racing for runners of all abilities.
The fast, flat one mile road course is designed for competitive racing, with participants seeded into ability based waves to create closely matched races throughout the field. Whether aiming for a personal best, competing for series honours or experiencing the mile for the first time, runners benefit from a professionally organised event in a supportive atmosphere.
All races in the series are officially measured and chip timed, with results eligible for Power of 10 rankings. Competitors keep the same race number throughout the series, while overall standings reward consistent performances across the six events. The organiser also runs free timed training sessions during the year, helping runners improve their speed and confidence over the distance.
