Derrington Dash To Debut This July
New summertime 5K for Staffordshire with PB potential and village fete fun...
Stafford Harriers are adding a brand-new fixture to their 2025 calendar with the launch of the Derrington Dash, a fast and friendly 5K taking place on 5 July as part of the popular Derrington village fete.
Known for their community-focused running events and support of local cross country and parkrun activities, the Harriers are inviting runners of all abilities to take part in what promises to be a scenic and spirited addition to the local racing scene. The flat, out-and-back route follows a disused railway line, offering PB potential for those chasing speed and a relaxed, feel-good vibe for those in it for fun.
The race begins beside the bridge near Derrington playing fields, heading west along the old railway line to a turnaround at Crossing Lane before taking a picturesque detour into Millennium Green. Runners will loop around the pond before returning to the railway for a final push east toward Stafford and back. The finish line awaits just beyond the starting point, with all finishers receiving a bespoke memento to mark their achievement.
After the race, participants and spectators are encouraged to stick around and enjoy the Derrington village fete, featuring food stalls, tea and coffee, a bar, duck races, children’s games, a dog show, tug of war and much more.
Whether you’re racing for a time or jogging for joy, the Derrington Dash offers a summer’s day out that combines great running with village fete charm.
