Jolly Running In Derby
Celebrate fitness and festivity in equal measure at Derby's Santa Run...
Markeaton Park will transform into a sea of red and white on 30 November as hundreds of runners take part in the Derby Santa Run, organised by the Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity. The annual event invites participants of all ages to don a Santa suit and dash, jog or walk through the park for a fun-filled 5K festive run.
Each entrant will receive a free Santa suit to wear on the day along with a finisher’s medal. The event also promises live entertainment, including a DJ and brass band, plus an appearance from the charity’s mascot, Lambie, making it a great option for families looking for a fun-filled festive event to kick-start the season together!
Local running clubs are also being encouraged to make the Derby Santa Run part of their winter training calendar. Organisers say: "Groups such as Tutbury Runners have already confirmed their participation with members planning to complete their Couch to 5K programme by taking part in the event."
Participants can choose to fundraise for Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity or one of eight associated charity partners. Entry costs £15 for adults and £5 for children, which includes a Santa suit and medal for every runner. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome to join in free of charge, with festive bandanas available for £3.
