The course follows a scenic, undulating woodland trail, mostly on firm paths with some short tarmac sections. The 2.5K junior race follows a loop around the paths around Dechmont Law. The 6.5K uses the long loop and goes past the Alien Stone to North Wood before returning to Dechmont Law. The 10K combines a short loop & the long loop and also goes past the Alien Stone on the long loop (same as 6.5k).
Dechmont 10K Trail Race will incorporate the inaugural Scottish Athletics East District Trail Championships in 2026 .
