Dalby Dash is a volunteer organised 10K held in association with Pickering Running Club and supporting local charities and service personnel.
Starting outside the Low Dalby Visitor Centre, runners begin with a steady climb on the firm tarmac road through House Dale. The first man and woman to reach the top earn the traditional King and Queen of the Hill prizes.
The route then follows gravel trails along the top of the rigg before beginning a long, fast descent towards Dalby Beck and a final dash back to the finish at Low Dalby. Despite the significant opening climb, the organiser describes this as the only hill on the course.
Held on Remembrance Sunday, the event observes a two minute silence before its distinctive 11:02 start. Timing is recorded electronically and all finishers receive a commemorative memento.
