Crimond Run Fest Returns
Head to the north east at the end of the month for some race action...
If you're looking for a race fix before the end of the month then how about the scenic Crimond Run Fest which returns in 2024 with 6K and 12K distances.
Taking place on 29 September, the event will start outside the historic Crimond Parish Church. The 6K race will begin when the kirk clock's bell strikes noon, with the 12K starting an hour later at 1pm. A race organiser commented: "This staggering of times means you can do both the 6K and 12K races if you're keen - there will be a memento for those who do both!"
Crimond is in Aberdeenshire (between Peterhead and Fraserburgh), indeed the A90 passes through the village. All the runs will take place on quiet, gently undulating country roads which will be marshalled and well-signed.
The 6K has a minumum age of 13 while the 12K has a minimum age of 16 and the half marathon has a minumum age of 17. There are no upper limits! Organisers are also planning a Kids Fun Run (approx 1.5K) for ages 7 to 12 (or younger if accompanied by an adult). With a medal for all finishers, entries will be on the day at £2.
In the main events there will be trophies for the first three male and female runners and medals for all finishers and there will be refreshments for all in the village hall afterwards.
In 2023 there were 50 runners in the 6K race with Joe Folan of Metro Aberdeen claiming victory in 21:26 while first female was Jessica Needs in 24:40. The 12K race saw 44 runners taking part with the winning time going to Ryan McRae in 46:47 and Jenny Stanning of Metro Aberdeen clocking 52:19.
