The Crich Monument Race is a challenging multi terrain event held as part of the annual Crich Village Fete in Derbyshire. Starting and finishing in the heart of the village, the race covers approximately 6.5 miles through fields, woodland, canal paths and open countryside before climbing to the iconic Sherwood Foresters Memorial Tower, commonly known as Crich Stand.
The course combines a succession of stiles, technical trails, fast descents, riverside running along the Cromford Canal and a demanding climb of around 700 feet to the monument. Runners are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views across Derbyshire before returning to the village for a lively finish surrounded by the atmosphere of the traditional village fete.
The event is fully marshalled and attracts runners looking for a rewarding off road challenge in a friendly community setting. Combining varied terrain, historic landmarks and one of Derbyshire's best loved village events, the Crich Monument Race has become a popular fixture in the summer racing calendar.
