The Cragg Challenge is a unique closed road running event held on Cragg Road in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. Runners can choose from a 1 Mile race, 5K, 10K or 10 Mile distance, with all events taking place on the famous Cragg Vale climb.
The courses follow out and back routes on England's longest continuous incline. Starting from Mytholmroyd, runners tackle a steady uphill challenge before turning and enjoying a fast descent back to the finish. The 5K and 10K provide an accessible introduction to the climb, while the 10 Mile race offers the full Cragg Challenge experience. The John Jones Memorial Mile adds a shorter option suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities.
With traffic free roads, Yorkshire scenery and a distinctive uphill profile, the event offers a road running experience unlike most races in the UK. Its combination of closed roads, challenging gradients and multiple race distances has made the Cragg Challenge a popular fixture in the West Yorkshire running calendar.
