The Cosdon Hill Race is a traditional fell race organised from the Dartmoor village of Belstone. This classic AS category event challenges runners to navigate their own route to the summit beacon on Cosdon Hill before returning to the village green, celebrating the self reliance and navigation skills that are central to British fell running.
The approximately 3.1 Mile course climbs around 300 metres over rough open moorland with no course markings. Runners choose their own line to and from the compulsory summit checkpoint at Cosdon Beacon, creating a different challenge on every edition while rewarding strong route choice as well as climbing ability.
Held under Fell Runners Association rules, the event features prizes across a range of categories and junior races for younger runners. Its traditional format, self navigation and iconic Dartmoor setting have established the Cosdon Hill Race as a longstanding fixture in the South West fell running calendar.
