The Cornish Marathon is Cornwall’s only all road marathon, starting and finishing at the Millennium Centre in Pensilva. First held in 1984, this long running event takes runners through the countryside of East Cornwall and Bodmin Moor.
The measured 26.2 mile road course follows the Draynes Valley and passes landmarks including Dozmary Pool and Jamaica Inn at Bolventor. With approximately 2,200ft of climbing and a memorable ascent to Foredown between miles 24 and 25, runners can expect a challenging hilly marathon with rewarding countryside views.
Runners taking on the Cornish Marathon have a 6.5 hour cut off, with water stations positioned at regular points around the course. Chip timing and a well supported route complete a distinctive Cornwall marathon for runners looking to tackle a demanding road race through some of the county’s most memorable scenery.
