Sphinx AC Coombe 8 takes place in the historic grounds of Coombe Abbey Country Park near Coventry. Organised by Sphinx Athletic Club, the event features an 8 Mile main race alongside a shorter 5 Mile option, both following varied off road routes through the estate's woodland and open countryside.
Runners tackle an undulating mixed terrain course featuring wooded trails, farmland, grassy fields and river crossings. Both distances begin with a loop through the sheep field and its distinctive bomb craters before passing the Abbey and entering the woodland. The longer race completes an additional circuit, adding to the challenge of the varied surfaces and natural obstacles.
Race headquarters are located outside the main visitor centre, with a briefing before the start and medical support available throughout the event. All finishers receive a race memento and hot chocolate, while prizes are awarded to leading competitors in the 8 Mile race.
