Colne Valley Path is organised by H&T Running and offers point to point Marathon and Half Marathon trail races through the Essex countryside.
The Marathon follows the Colne Valley Path from Stambourne, heading through Great Yeldham before continuing south towards Colchester. The Half Marathon starts at Greenstead Green and joins the latter part of the route, with both distances finishing at Cymbeline Meadows in Colchester.
These are self navigated races rather than fully marked courses, with runners following a GPX file or written route instructions. Checkpoints and well stocked aid stations are positioned at regular intervals, and the event is cupless so runners must carry their own drinking cup.
A pre race shuttle can transport runners from the finish area to the starts when booked in advance. The Marathon has a 7.5 hour cut off and the Half Marathon a four hour cut off. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules.
