The COBS Summerfield 5K is organised by City of Birmingham Striders and takes place in Summerfield Park, just west of Birmingham city centre.
The fast and flat 5K course was originally devised by Birmingham Running, Athletics and Triathlon Club, with City of Birmingham Striders continuing its legacy as part of the Warwickshire Road Race League. The officially measured route consists of one small loop followed by three larger loops and a finishing straight.
The course is predominantly on tarmac paths, with only a very short section away from the path to negotiate barriers. The race is not chip timed, with runners receiving a gun time and provisional results published after the event.
Facilities close to the start and finish include toilets, a bag drop and refreshments, with first aid support also provided. Finishers receive a medal, water and a recovery snack. Summerfield Park is readily accessible from Birmingham city centre by public transport.
