The Clarendon Marathon is a challenging point to point trail race from Salisbury to Winchester, following the historic Clarendon Way through the Hampshire and Wiltshire countryside. More than 90% of the marathon is off road, taking runners along ancient tracks, paths and rural trails on a scenic 26.2 mile journey between the two cathedral cities.
Runners can expect a demanding course with rolling hills and varied underfoot conditions as the route crosses open countryside and follows paths used for centuries. The combination of climbs, descents and predominantly off road terrain makes this a tougher alternative to a conventional road marathon, with the historic Clarendon Way providing a distinctive backdrop throughout the race.
Alongside the full Marathon, the event includes a Half Marathon, 5 Mile Mini and a four person Marathon Relay, allowing runners to experience different sections of the route. A children’s race is also held at the finish venue at Kings’ School in Winchester, where the longer races conclude and finishers receive their medal and event T shirt.
