Cheshire 10K adds to fast festive events
There are a series of northern events – the Wilmslow Festive 10K and Doncaster 10K are just two of many – that offer not just an opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit but represent a real chance of hitting a late season PB. Another on the list is the Cheshire 10K, which, according to Lucy Harfield from race organisers RunThrough, will showcase a 'fun and frantic morning of running'.
The bi-annual event, scheduled for Sunday 10 November, has seen its stock rise over the last few years and has become a go-to race for those seeking a PB with it officially ranked as one of the fastest 10ks in the UK. Held at Arley Hall near Warrington, the course takes runners round the flat and rural traffic free roads of Antrobus.
Looking ahead to the event, Lucy Harfield told runABC North: "We are excited to be closing in on the Cheshire 10k which will take place on Saturday 10th November – the team are ready for another fantastic event. The entries have now sold out and final preparations are well underway."
This time last year, the November event witnessed a close battle between Matt Clowes and Mohammed Abu-Rezeq. It was the Cardiff athlete who prevailed, however, crossing the line first in 29:44, with Abu-Rezeq following (30:22). Clowes’ clubmate, Carwyn Jones, took third in 30:24.
In the women's race Jess Piasecki (formerly Coulson) continued her path to recovery with a comprehensive victory in 34:44. Liverpool Pembroke's Kirsty Longley (36:12) was second.
