Cheese & Crackers Trail Races is organised by Trails For Good in Hartington, Derbyshire, offering two distances through the limestone landscapes of the Peak District National Park. The event combines challenging off-road running with a distinctive celebration of local food and a commitment to protecting the area's natural environment.
The 8.4K and 16.4K routes explore Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale and Biggin Dale, following waymarked trails through wooded valleys, open countryside and beneath limestone cliffs. The shorter course features approximately 135 metres of ascent, while the longer route climbs around 290 metres, including a demanding ascent towards the Tissington Trail. Both distances finish on a trail opposite Hartington Youth Hostel.
Professional timing, course marshals and first aid support are provided, with runners starting in small waves to reduce congestion on the trails. Afterwards, participants can sample locally produced cheeses at race headquarters before collecting a goodie bag from Hartington Cheese Shop. Part of each entry fee supports trail restoration and nature recovery projects across the Peak District.
