Search on for Euro Race of the Year

For the first time ever, European Athletics are casting the net to find the European Race of the Year Award. The deadline for entry submission – with race organisers / directors invited to outline why their event should be considered for the Award – is midnight Thursday 25 July.

In addition to features other than performance, European Athletics are looking for a race that offers social inclusion (with both its race participants, organising staff and volunteers), the protection of the environment and community outreach.

In order to be in contention, races must be certified as adhering to the European Athletics Quality Road Race standards, which act as an assurance for road runners throughout Europe.

It specifically states that the race commits to providing a certain level of services, depending on the level of certification: currently there are more than 900 races across Europe that have received certification.

European Athletics will announce a shortlist on Thursday 1 August and a panel involving stakeholders from various sectors, including fellow race organisers, will then confer and adjudicate who should win this prestigious inaugural Award.
