Mid Summer Night's Trail Race
Fancy some off-road family fun at Calderglen Country Park?
Entries are now open for a fantastic mid-summer evening trail festival that the whole family can enjoy... The Calderglen Harriers Trail Running Festival will return to East Kilbride on 28 June and promises to be as fun an affair as ever.
The venue is Calderglen Country Park, which means runners can expect some fantastic routes for the various distances on offer. The family friendly festival will once again feature four events. The 1K Trail Race, Ewan Murray Memorial 3K Trail Race and 5K Trail race will all be run on the trails within the park while the 10K race will see runners head through the park and out to Langlands Moss.
There will also be a 100m toddler dash for pre-schoolers, which can be entered on the night.
This year organisers have once again taken the environmentally conscious decision not to offer t-shirts or medals to athletes running the 5 and 10K races. Organisers say: "We have decided to keep the cost of entry to our races as low as possible. Times are tough, and race entries can be expensive. We'd like to continue to buck that trend.
"For your entry fee we can guarantee you a fantastic night of trail running in a beautiful setting... oh, and we'll throw in our legendary Calderglen after-race buffet in the Sports Club!"
£1 from all 5K and 10K entries will also be donated to the event’s chosen charity, Deafblind Scotland.
