Caerketton Hill Race is a 3.6K hill race organised by Carnethy Hill Running Club at Hillend on the southern edge of Edinburgh.
The senior race climbs around 300m on the slopes of Caerketton Hill before turning for a fast descent back towards Hillend. Its combination of short distance and substantial ascent produces an intense test of uphill strength and descending speed, with open views across Edinburgh and the surrounding Pentland Hills.
The event is organised in accordance with Scottish Hill Runners safety rules and has a traditional midweek hill racing format. A junior race for under 14s is held before the senior event, covering approximately 1.9K with 160m of climbing.
