Organised by Borrowdale Fell Runners, the Borrowdale Fell Race takes place from Rosthwaite in the Borrowdale Valley, Cumbria. The event is one of the classic Lake District fell races, attracting experienced hill runners to a demanding mountain route across some of the region's highest terrain.
The 27K course includes around 2000 metres of ascent and visits a series of iconic Lakeland summits including Bessy Boot, Scafell Pike, Great Gable and Dale Head. The route combines steep climbs, technical mountain terrain and exposed sections, requiring strong fell running experience and navigation ability.
The race starts and finishes at the Scafell Hotel in Rosthwaite and is supported by checkpoints along the route. With strict entry requirements, mountain kit requirements and a long standing reputation within fell running, Borrowdale Fell Race remains a significant challenge for experienced competitors.
