The Birkenhead Park 5 Mile is a popular summer road race organised by Wirral AC, taking runners around the historic Birkenhead Park, the world's first publicly funded park. The newly measured and accurately certified 5-mile course follows flat, traffic-free park roads, making it ideal for runners aiming for a personal best as well as those looking to enjoy a well-organised club event.
Held on a summer evening, the race attracts runners of all abilities and is known for its welcoming atmosphere and scenic setting among the park's lakes, woodlands and Victorian landmarks. Entry includes chip timing, a finisher's memento, free professional race photos and water stations on each lap.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, with a £100 bonus available for breaking the male or female course record. The event also features a children's 1-mile race at 6:00pm, with all young finishers receiving a memento.
