The Islay Half Marathon takes place on the Isle of Islay and has been held since 1986. Starting and finishing in Bowmore, the event attracts runners from across the UK to experience a distinctive island race through the heart of Speyside's whisky producing neighbour.
The road course heads out from Bowmore past the iconic Round Church before following rolling country roads towards Islay Airport. A circular route through farmland and open countryside returns via the Low Road, offering a varied profile with a mix of gentle climbs, flatter sections and expansive island scenery.
Registration takes place in Bowmore on race morning, with prizes awarded after the race. Friendly local organisation, strong community support and the opportunity to combine racing with a visit to Islay's world famous distilleries make this a memorable Half Marathon experience.
