The Antonine Trail 10K is a hilly trail race organised by Kirkintilloch Olympians, starting and finishing at Colliery Green in Twechar. Based largely on the original Antonine Trail Race route, it takes runners through the countryside surrounding the Antonine Wall, combining challenging terrain with historic landmarks and scenic views.
The 10K course begins with a climb up Barrhill towards the remains of an Antonine fort before crossing into Croy. Runners then head up Mount Cookie and Croy Hill, where there are views across the Kilsyth Hills, before tackling a steep descent and returning to Twechar through Creekie Wood. With plenty of climbs, descents and woodland trails, the route provides a varied challenge for trail runners.
The race is chip timed and organised under UK Athletics rules, with a maximum of 150 participants. Registration takes place at Twechar Outdoor Pursuits Centre, where toilets, showers and changing facilities are available. Prizes are awarded to the leading male and female finishers, alongside age category awards.
