The Alva Games Hill Race is one of Scotland's oldest and most prestigious hill races, forming the climax of the annual Alva Games in Clackmannanshire. Starting from Johnstone Park in Alva, the senior race climbs directly to the summit of Torry, covering 1.6K with approximately 400 metres of ascent. The event regularly serves as the British Championship Hill Race and attracts many of the UK's leading hill runners.

Despite its short distance, the course is exceptionally steep and demanding, requiring sustained uphill effort over rough hillside terrain. The relentless climb rewards competitors with panoramic views across the Ochil Hills and the Forth Valley before the race concludes at the summit, making it a true test of uphill running ability.

Held under Scottish hill running rules as part of the historic Alva Games programme, the race combines more than a century of tradition with elite competition and enthusiastic spectator support. Its unique uphill-only format and rich heritage have established the Alva Games Hill Race as one of the most distinctive events in the Scottish hill running calendar.
