The Duncan Macfarlane Race, known as The Dunky, is a 7.5K trail race through Mugdock Country Park. Created in celebration of accomplished Scottish runner Duncan Macfarlane, the event takes place on trails once regularly explored by Macfarlane and his Victoria Park AC clubmates.
Runners complete two laps through the country park on a fully waymarked and marshalled route. Along the way, the course passes two castles, a loch and a Second World War anti aircraft emplacement, with woodland trails, autumn scenery and views across the Greater Glasgow area adding variety to the run.
The event also reflects Macfarlane’s love of the natural world, with support given to The Woodland Trust alongside the Chris Smith Memorial Fund. Finish line refreshments and prizes complete a friendly trail event with strong connections to Scottish running history and the surrounding landscape.
