The Winter Downs 200 is a 200 mile continuous trail ultramarathon organised by Centurion Running, starting and finishing at Juniper Hall near Box Hill in Surrey. The route forms an extensive loop through southern England, linking five major long distance trails in a demanding winter endurance challenge.
Runners follow the North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way, covering approximately 321K with 6,800 metres of elevation gain. Around 80% of the route is on trails, with long climbs, exposed sections and extended periods of darkness. Participants must navigate using the established trail waymarkers and GPX files, with live tracking throughout the event.
The race has a 96 hour overall time limit, with three major aid stations providing hot meals, drop bags and sleeping facilities, alongside an additional safety checkpoint. Mandatory equipment requirements reflect the demanding winter conditions, while finishers earn a commemorative buckle for completing this substantial endurance challenge.
