Waverley Dash is organised by Handsworth Roadhogs Running Club and has been a regular fixture on the local running calendar since it was first staged in 2014.
The approximately 10K course explores the area around Waverley Lakes between Handsworth and Treeton. It is entirely off road, following trails and paths around the lakes and across surrounding fields. The route is relatively flat and fully marshalled, making it an accessible trail race while still providing a change from conventional road running.
Conditions underfoot can vary considerably with the weather, and sections can become muddy after rain, when trail shoes are recommended.
The race has strong links with the growing Waverley community and typically attracts runners from the surrounding area and local clubs. Prizes are awarded to leading overall and age category runners, alongside a selection of spot prizes.
