Tom’s Cairn Trail Races are held at Finzean in Deeside, with a choice of scenic off road distances through the estate. The flagship 10.1K is joined by a gentler 5K through the estate woods and a shorter race for primary school children.
Runners taking on the 10.1K climb approximately 239m to the top of Tom’s Cairn, providing a challenging trail route through the Deeside landscape. The 5K provides a shorter alternative through the woodland of the Finzean estate, making the event suitable for a range of running experience and abilities.
The races are organised by Finzean School Parent Council as a fundraiser for Finzean School and Ballogie Nursery. Home baking, hot drinks and live music add to the community atmosphere, while a piper on the hill provides a distinctive feature for runners tackling the Tom’s Cairn route.
