The Orwell Challenge is one of Suffolk's longest established endurance events, offering trail Marathon, Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon distances alongside a range of walking challenges around the stunning Orwell Estuary. Organised by the Rotary Club of Ipswich East, the event welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities while raising funds for local charitable causes.

Starting from Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich, the routes follow scenic riverside trails, woodland paths, open countryside and quiet estuary tracks, showcasing the natural beauty and varied landscapes of the Orwell Estuary. With fully marshalled routes, well stocked checkpoints and excellent event support, participants can enjoy a rewarding challenge whether tackling a longer distance for the first time or pursuing a new endurance goal.

Renowned for its friendly atmosphere and outstanding organisation, the Orwell Challenge combines spectacular scenery with a strong community spirit.
