The Lucky Horseshoe is a flexible trail running event based at the Suffolk Running Centre near Bury St Edmunds. Runners can choose from 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra distances, with everyone setting off together and up to seven hours available to complete their chosen challenge.
The out and back Gallops Route heads through the Suffolk countryside towards Newmarket for the longer distances, where runners may even see racehorses training on the famous gallops. Marathon runners complete the full out and back route, while shorter distances use designated turnaround points and ultra runners extend their challenge beyond the marathon distance.
With runners of different distances sharing the same course, the format creates a sociable atmosphere throughout the day. Regular aid stations provide drinks and snacks, with Race HQ at the Suffolk Running Centre acting as the event base and finish.
