The Great Westmorland Trail Race is a 13K event starting and finishing in the village of Crosby Garrett near Kirkby Stephen. The scenic course crosses rolling fell land on trails and footpaths, with views across the Eden and Lune valleys.
Runners tackle around 400m of climbing on a fully marked route through the surrounding Cumbrian countryside. The mix of rolling terrain, climbs and descents creates a rewarding trail challenge, with the marked course allowing runners to concentrate on their run rather than navigation.
Junior races also take place for age groups from U7 through to U17, starting ahead of the senior event. Organised by Howgill Harriers, the event welcomes both club and unaffiliated runners, with registration based in Crosby Garrett.
