The Drop Kendal is an unusual running and navigation challenge set around the Cumbrian town of Kendal. Participants are transported by bus to an undisclosed location while wearing blackout blindfolds, then must find their own way back to the event centre without maps, GPS or navigation aids.
Runners can choose between 6, 10 and 15 mile challenges, measured in a straight line from the drop point to the finish. Actual distances will be longer, with participants deciding their own routes across the surrounding area. The 6 mile option is reserved for non-local entrants, while the longer challenges test endurance, decision-making and navigation under pressure.
Registration takes place at Podda & Wren Coffee Roasters in Kendal, where participants surrender electronic devices and receive a sealed emergency bag. Optional live GPS tracking is available for supporters and safety purposes, but runners must complete the challenge independently and return to the event centre on foot.
