The Drop Durham is a self-navigation adventure race taking place on Sunday 9th August 2026 from Durham city centre. Participants are transported to an undisclosed location before setting off to find their own way back to the finish using personal judgement and route choices.
The event offers 6 Mile, 10 Mile and 15 Mile challenges, with no marked course, GPS devices, maps or navigation aids allowed once runners begin. The routes cross a mixture of countryside, trails, paths and urban areas around County Durham, making route planning and decision-making a key part of the challenge.
Designed as a test of endurance, navigation and adventure skills, The Drop provides a completely different running experience from a traditional race. Runners can expect an unpredictable and rewarding challenge where every participant creates their own unique journey back to the finish.
