The Descent is a point to point 10K road race organised by RunAble, taking runners from the high moorland around Scammonden to the finish in West Vale. Designed around one simple idea of starting high and finishing low, the event offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a fast net downhill route through the Calderdale countryside.
The fully road based course descends approximately 300 metres over 10K, following quiet upland roads with sweeping downhill sections and expansive views before reaching the valley finish. Chip timed and fully marshalled, the route is suitable for first time 10K runners as well as experienced athletes looking to enjoy a fast, flowing race.
With transport to the start included, finisher's medals and a friendly atmosphere, The Descent delivers a distinctive road running experience that lets gravity do much of the work while showcasing some of West Yorkshire's finest scenery.
