The Big Pilgrimage is a point to point mixed terrain event featuring a marathon and 15 mile route along the historic Old Way pilgrimage trail. Starting at Mayflower Park in Southampton, runners follow coastal paths, countryside trails and historic routes, passing landmarks including Netley Castle, Netley Abbey, Royal Victoria Country Park and Titchfield Abbey before finishing at Boundary Oak School for the marathon or Titchfield Abbey for the 15 mile race.
Organised by BigFeat Events, the course is fully marked and supported with aid stations, marshals, medical cover and baggage transport. The event is well known for its distinctive boat crossing over the River Hamble, where runners board a ferry to continue the route, making it one of the most unusual trail races in southern England.
The Big Pilgrimage rewards runners with varied mixed terrain, historic scenery and a challenging point to point course that combines endurance, navigation and memorable landmarks across Hampshire's coastline and countryside.
