The Beast is organised by Poole AC and is a long established trail race through the spectacular countryside of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset.
Starting on Corfe Castle Common, the approximately 13 mile course heads towards Worth Matravers before joining the coastal path. Runners are rewarded with extensive views along the Dorset coast, but the scenery comes with plenty of challenging climbing and descending before the route turns inland for the return to Corfe.
The varied trail terrain and significant hills make this a demanding race, with a three hour 30 minute cut off. Four water stations are positioned around the course.
Organised for more than three decades, The Beast has developed a loyal following and forms part of the Purbeck Trail Series. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and every finisher receives a distinctive race T shirt.
