Team Marathon London is organised by Benchmark and brings teams of four together to complete the marathon distance in Hackney Wick, East London.
Each runner covers approximately 10.55K, or 6.55 miles, with all four teammates starting together rather than running sequential relay legs. Runners complete their distance at their own pace, with the four individual chip times combined to produce the team's marathon time.
The multi terrain course uses a short circuit on grass and paths, keeping runners close to teammates and spectators throughout. Staggered waves run through the afternoon.
The event combines running with a festival atmosphere featuring live music, DJs, brass bands, cheer zones, food and drink. The format is designed around social and community running, combining the challenge of completing a timed distance with a shared team experience.
