The Swindon Half Marathon is a road running event taking runners from Swindon into the surrounding Wiltshire countryside. The predominantly closed road course passes through and around the villages of Wanborough, Badbury and Medbourne, combining urban and rural surroundings across the 13.1 mile distance.
Runners begin with a mostly flat opening five miles before encountering a more undulating section between miles five and ten. The closing miles lead into a downhill finish, giving runners the opportunity to pick up the pace towards the end of the race. Kilometre markers are positioned throughout the course, with marshals on hand to guide and encourage participants.
The event supports Prospect Hospice and brings runners and local supporters together for a community focused Half Marathon. Finishers receive a unique medal and post race goodies, while the event village provides food and drink options and a lively setting for participants and spectators before and after the race.
