The Swaledale Marathon is a 24 mile fell race and challenge walk organised by Swaledale Outdoor Club. Taking place in the Yorkshire Dales, the event follows a self navigated route through some of Swaledale's best known landscapes, requiring participants to find their own way around the course and complete it within a 10 hour limit.
Established in 1979, the event has become one of the most recognised long distance fell running challenges in northern England. The route crosses a variety of upland terrain and showcases the distinctive scenery of Swaledale, combining endurance, navigation and hill running skills.
With its self navigated format, demanding distance and spectacular Yorkshire Dales setting, the Swaledale Marathon offers a classic fell running experience that continues to attract runners and walkers from across the UK.
