The Sunset Running Festival is a popular summer event on Edinburgh's waterfront, offering a range of distances for runners of all abilities. Now in its sixth year, the festival combines a relaxed atmosphere with the opportunity to tackle anything from a single 7K lap to a 6 hour ultra challenge.
Taking place on the flat tarmac promenade at Silverknowes, the course offers wide paths, coastal views and favourable running conditions. Distances include a 7K, Half Marathon, Marathon, Relay Marathon and a 6 Hour Ultra, with all events using the same lap based route. A 1K kids race also gives younger runners the chance to be part of the festival atmosphere.
With chip timing, water stations, Scottish Athletics licensing and a welcoming community feel, the Sunset Running Festival caters for everyone from first time runners to experienced endurance athletes. The flat seaside course makes it an attractive option for personal best attempts as well as longer distance challenges.
