The Summer Solstice Challenge is a six hour timed running event that allows participants to choose their own distance, from 5K through to ultra marathon. Held on the summer solstice weekend, the event offers a flexible format that appeals to runners of all abilities, whether aiming for a first race, a marathon milestone or an ultra distance achievement.
Based at Poorhouse Lane in Hull, the course follows an out and back route along an old railway line. The predominantly tarmac course includes a small trail section and requires no navigation, making it straightforward for runners to focus on their chosen challenge. Distances are achieved through multiple laps, with participants able to continue starting new laps until the six hour limit is reached.
Supported by a well stocked aid station at the end of each lap, the event provides a welcoming atmosphere for runners tackling everything from 5K and 10K distances to half marathons, marathons and ultras. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal and goody bag in recognition of their achievement.
