Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before is a seven hour timed running event on the seafront promenade at Southbourne, east of Bournemouth. Part of Long Player Running's music themed events, it takes inspiration from The Smiths and Morrissey while giving participants the freedom to choose how far they want to run.
Runners complete laps of a flat 5.3K out and back route along the tarmacked beachfront promenade, with coastal views towards the Isle of Wight and Swanage. There is virtually no elevation gain or loss, creating a fast course suitable for a range of abilities and targets. The route is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers, allowing qualifying marathon performances to count as road marathons.
Participants can complete anything from a single lap through 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon distances to an ultra by continuing to accumulate laps within the time limit. Flexible start times add to the relaxed format, while an aid station is available at the completion of each lap with drinks and a selection of sweet and savoury refreshments.
