The Steps for Change Children's Challenge is an inclusive family friendly charity event following the Thames from Kingston Bridge towards Hampton Court Palace. Participants can run, walk, stroll or roll along the flat riverside route, with accessible paths suitable for wheelchairs, buggies and scooters as well as runners and walkers.
The full 10K follows Barge Walk from Kingston towards Hampton Court Palace and returns to the starting area, while the palace provides the finishing point for those completing the 5K option. The largely flat and pathed course provides an accessible challenge for a wide range of ages and abilities, with route signs and Able Child stewards supporting participants along the way.
The event raises funds for Able Child and its work supporting children with disabilities in Africa. Participants receive an event T-shirt and finishers can collect an eco medal, with drinks, snacks and a finisher reception also provided. Children must participate with an accompanying adult, reinforcing the event's focus on families and community participation.
