The Castle 5K is the second race in the Carlisle 5K Series, a programme of summer evening races that provides runners with multiple opportunities to compete over an accurately measured 5K course. The series attracts runners of all abilities, from club athletes chasing fast times to those looking to build confidence over the distance.

Starting near the Sheepmount area, the route combines park paths, pavements and quiet roads on a predominantly flat course. Runners begin with a loop of Bitts Park before heading towards Carlisle Castle, completing two laps around the historic landmark before returning to the finish.

With its fast profile, officially measured course and unique castle setting, the Castle 5K offers an enjoyable midweek racing opportunity and an important chance to earn points in the Carlisle 5K Series.
